Our 2020 grant recipient Covenant House’s mission is to safeguard youth in need, especially those experiencing homelessness. Covenant House got its start in 1988 as a grassroots outreach program in Hollywood. Volunteers took to the streets, handing out food, water, and showing compassion. Responding to needs in the San Francisco Bay Area, it opened another location in 1998 in Oakland.
Its guiding principles are to serve at-risk youth through respect and unconditional love, believing that no young person deserves to be homeless. Impact100’s grant of $109,000 will support Covenant House’s mental health services for youth facing homelessness: the first robust program of its kind in the East Bay. We are proud to jumpstart this important effort.
