Join a Committee

Once you become a Member of Impact100 East Bay, you may wish to participate on one of our standing committees:

Grants is responsible for engaging and informing East Bay non-profits about the Impact 100 process; vetting grant proposals throughout the process; determining financial viability (i.e. financial stability and accounting compliance); conducting site visits, and recommending the finalists to be presented for the full membership vote at the annual Grant Awards Meeting.  If you are interested in serving on the Grant Committee, contact grants@impact100eastbay.org. This committee welcomes all members, but specifically needs those who have a familiarity with accounting or financial statements, analytical individuals who can use criteria and a framework to reach a conclusion, and in particular, those who are interested in engaging with and learning more about the East Bay’s non-profits in need.

Membership, Recruiting, and Engagement is responsible for formulating strategies for member recruitment, event planning, and maintaining a focused effort to retain and engage existing Impact 100 East Bay members.  Membership also provides pre- and post-event support, including identification of sites, logistical and budget support, planning strategies and event staging. New ideas and members for the committee are always welcome.  If you are interested developing and maintaining a vibrant Impact 100 community, contact info@impact100eastbay.org. We have specific needs for members who are great networkers, strong communicators via social media, and can help shape unique venues and messages targeted to a diverse group of people.

Communications is responsible to establish the overall brand and message of Impact 100 East Bay, convey information to the Impact100 membership and build awareness for the organization and its mission within the community.  The committee is also in charge of sharing our grant recipient’s stories and highlighting how their efforts were transformed through the grant. Communication is achieved through press releases, articles, event photography, and updates to our website, LinkedIn and Facebook sites. Ultimately this committee may decide to publish a periodic newsletter. Communications is also responsible for meeting materials and invitations, development of copy, invitations and signage. If you have marketing, PR, social media, videography skills, enjoy writing and/or event photography, contact info@impact100eastbay.org.

Who are the Members of Impact 100 East Bay?

Impact 100 East Bay is open to all women age 18 or older who live in, or who wish to help, the greater East Bay (Contra Costa and Alameda counties) community and make an annual contribution of $1,000. Each $1,000 donation provides membership for one year.

Is my donation to Impact 100 East Bay tax-deductible?

Yes. Contributions made by December 31st are tax-deductible for the calendar year in which the donation was made. Impact 100 East Bay is a California nonprofit public benefit corporation, with application pending as a 501(c)(3) tax exempt charitable organization.

What is a Member Plus?

Members who can contribute beyond the $1,000 fee are encouraged to become a Member Plus by writing a check in excess of $1,000. This helps defray the cost of running the organization’s events, communications, website, insurance and administration.

What is required of a Member?

Each woman’s participation is dependent upon her personal situation and can change from year to year. If a woman has limited time, she contributes her $1,000 and votes for the grant recipients for that year. If a woman has more time, she can serve on a variety of committees or assist in other ways.

Once I join, how long is my membership in Impact 100 East Bay?

Membership in Impact 100 East Bay is renewed annually. Our annual grant cycle runs from October 1, through September 30. Women who donate $1,000 between October 1 and no later than April 15, of any year are eligible to vote for final grant recipients and qualify as members for the current grant cycle.

How does Impact 100 East Bay stay in touch with its Members?

Impact 100 East Bay uses email communication to stay in touch with its Members; additionally, we plan to regularly update our website and Facebook site. As we gain membership and sponsors we hope to host membership events during the year.

I would like to contribute more than $1,000. Do I get more than one vote?

No. Our founding principle is “one woman, one vote.” Any amount given over $1,000 goes first to offset administrative costs. If we receive more funds than we need to cover administrative costs, our board of directors may decide to add that money to grant funds.

My company matches funds for charitable donations. Can I give $500 and have my company match it to make my total $1,000 donation?

We ask that every member honor the $1,000 personal pledge. However, we appreciate matching funds from employers and use these funds to offset administrative costs.

Do you allow my Membership to be charged on a credit card?

At this time, we can’t accept credit card payments. We hope to add this capability in the future.

Do you accept stock in lieu of cash to fund membership payments?

Not at this time.

How is it possible that 100% of my contribution goes to the grant recipient? How are administrative and Membership recruitment expenses covered?

Impact 100 East Bay seeks gifts and sponsorships from individuals, local businesses, family and private foundations, and in-kind donations specifically for administrative expenses. The members who can become Members Plus also provide significant help.

How can I be a part of Impact 100 East Bay if I can’t make the $1,000 contribution?

You can become a a Friend of Impact 100 East Bay and play a very important role in our organization. All Friend donations are tax deductible. While your donation does not provide you with voting rights, it will help ensure that 100% of each Member’s $1,000 donation goes directly to the grant. Friends can attend social events and the annual Awards Meeting.

Can men participate in Impact 100 East Bay?

Men are welcome to become Friends of Impact 100 (see above) and many volunteer to help at our activities and events.
